The Symposium, “İskilip, in All Aspects: Past, Present, Future” adjourns

The Symposium, “İskilip, in All Aspects: Past, Present, Future” which was held with the cooperation of our University, İskilip District Governorate and İskilip Mayorship between the dates of 9-11 October 2014 adjourned after the evaluation session.

The symposium beginning with Independence March went on with the speeches of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Muammer CENGİL, Head of İskilip Vocational Higher School; Recep ÇATMA, İskilip Mayor; Şuayip Gürsoy, İskilip District Governor; Prof. Dr. Reha Metin Alkan, our Rector; Prof. Dr. Abdulhaluk Mehmet Çay, former Minister of State.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Muammer CENGİL, Head of İskilip Vocational Higher School informed about the developmental phases of İskilip Vocational Higher School and the symposium, expressed his thanks to everyone contributed to the symposium.

Recep ÇATMA, İskilip Mayor said, “Producing projects by originating plans for the future of a city and a country is one of the most auspicious occasions.”  emphasizing that they place great importance on the symposium. 

Şuayip Gürsoy, İskilip District Governor pointed out that İskilip has natural beauties, a rich culture, specific fruits, handcrafts and scholars and he expressed his wishes for the symposium to lead the way for all the studies about the region and contribute to positive results.

Our Rector, Prof. Dr. Reha Metin Alkan stated that the most important duty of the universities is educational activity and he says, “ The universities are supposed to penetrate into social life with high added value productions. We have to make contributions to this city, this country and even to the humanity.” by informing about the serious resources and supports recently provided to the universities. He drew attention to the occupancy in the quota of the newly opened employment oriented departments of our university.

Stating that Hitit University places great importance to internationalisation, our Rector, Prof. Dr. Reha Metin Alkan explained that the number of agreements of our university which has signed Erasmus, Mevlana and educational cooperation protocols concerning the exchange of students, academic and administrative staff with 96 universities, 36 different countries and 4 continents has risen to 116 while it was 8 in 2010. He pointed out, “Hitit University is a university which provides service not only to Çorum but also to neighbor cities with open heart surgery, not with campus problems.

Former Minister of State, Prof. Dr. Abdulhaluk Mehmet Çay informed about the studies about İskilip pointing out that İskilip is one of the oldest accommodation units of the region.

The symposium adjourned after 12 different sessions and the evaluation session held in İskilip on 9-11 October 2014.

At the end of the symposium, a nature walk was organized on 11 October 2014. The Symposium, “İskilip, in All Aspects” will be published as a book soon afterwards.
