ÇOSİAD –University- Industry collaboration and consultation meeting was held  wiith the attendance of Çorum Governor Ahmet Kara, Çorum  Mayor Muzaffer Külcü, Our Rector Prof.Dr. Reha Metin Alkan,  Provincial Police Chief Salih Erkan Tarancı, ÇTSO  Chairman Çetin Başaranhıncal, ÇOSİAD  Chair of the Board Bülent Karadayı, academic staff of  our university and a lot of  businessman .

In the meeting, Rector Prof.Dr. Reha Metin Alkan and Technocity Manager Assoc. Prof. Dr. İrfan Kurtbaş informed about Technocity’s role at University- Industry collaboration to the participants.

 Making the opening speech of the meeting, ÇOSİAD Chair of the Board Bülent Karadayı stated that he was glad for having taken concrete steps and thanked to the attendees for their interest.

Informing about financial support, Assoc. Prof. Dr. İrfan Kurtbaş, said, “We have very high expectations of Çorum. As a university, we constitute a part of Technocity.In this sense, businessman and industrialist are supposed to accomplish great tasks.”

Rector Prof. Dr. Reha Metin Alkan said, “The common characteristics of developed countries are to produce technology and have the capacity to commercialize it. Dazzling developments in science and technology trivialized the borders and globalization turned the world into wide and tough market. In order to keep growing, all establishments have to follow scientific and technological developments and produce them. Firms and establishments have to interact and   cooperate with universities as the important centers carrying out scientific studies and producing information.

Rector Prof. Dr. Alkan said “Universities are supposed to have leading role in their cities and regions in terms of social, cultural, commercial developments besides contributing to the improvement and development of our country, research and development works, producing technology and science.”

Rector Prof. Dr. Alkan stated that the most important benefit of Technocity is to combine theoretical knowledge in university with practice and the first technopark samples were the result of the wish of entrepreneur lecturers in USA to turn their knowledge and experiences into production emphasizing that there are approximately 900 technocities in world.

Çorum Governor Ahmet Kara informed that industry has been developing in Çorum although its region is not suitable for industry and it will develop further with the technocity. He said, “Science and art is for the society. It is very glad for the university to cooperate with public and industry. This cooperation will contribute a lot to the industry in Çorum.
