‘Çorum Apiculture Workshop’ was organized with the collaboration of our university, Çorum Provincial Directorate of Food, Agriculture and Livestock and Çorum Beekeepers Association in Rectorate Conference Hall.
Our Rector Prof. Dr. Reha Metin Alkan, Provincial Head of Food, Agriculture and Livestock Erkan Elfaz Ermiş, Bahri Yılmaz Head of Turkish Beekeepers Association, Yücel Saygı Head of Beekeepers Association, academic staff of our university and beekeepers attended the workshop.
Following one minute’s silence and the Turkish National Anthem, the program started with the speeches of Bahri Yılmaz, Head of Turkish Beekeepers Association, Erkan Elfaz Ermiş, Provincial Head of Food, Agriculture and Livestock and Rector Prof. Dr. Reha Metin Alkan.
Stating that their aim was to increase the number of apiarists in Çorum within the framefork of university-indutry cooperation, university-city cooperation or university-sector cooperations, Prof. Dr. Alkan finished his speech by saying that we should carry out certain tasks to develop the society or find solutions for their problems.
After the presentations ‘The Problems of Apiculture’ by Prof. Dr. Muhsin Doğaroğlu, ‘Current Status of Honeybee Diseases’ by Asst. Prof. A. Onur Girişgin, ‘Medical Use of Honey and Other Products’ by Asst. Prof. Engin Şenel and ‘Honey and Nutrition’ by Asst. Prof. Nedim Albayrak in opening panel moderated by Asst. Prof. Ali Salur, the workshop continued with sessions ‘Bee Products’, ‘Apiculture Supplies and Marketing’, ‘Bee Habitat and Flora’ and ‘Beekeeping and Bee Diseases’ in four different halls simultaneously.
‘Çorum Apiculture Workshop’ ended with the evaluation meeting in which SWOT analysis was carried out and attended by all the participants following the presentations and sessions.
