Our proposal for the opening “Mathematics Master's Programme (with Thesis)” under the body of the Institute of Natural and Applied Sciences was approved in Higher Education Executive Board meeting dated 10/06/2015.
With the aim of supporting the new universities by training academicians and educating qualified and scientific staff, our University has been continuing graduate studies providing the students with acquiring knowledge by conducting scientific research and evaluating the knowledge.
Due to the comprehensive studies, the number of graduate students and programmes has been increasing day by day in our University. While the number of students is 86 in the Institute of Natural and Applied Sciences in 2011, the number increased to 253 with a 194% rise. As for the Institute of Social Sciences, the number of students increased to 906 with a 533% rise while it was 143 in 2011.
In the Institute of Natural and Applied Sciences, the number of programmes was 4 in 2011. The number increased to 9 with a 125% rise. While there were 7 programmes in the Institute of Social Sciences in 2011, the number increased to 16 with a 129% rise.
The aim of the Mathematics Master's Programme (with Thesis)
Master students will contribute to the development of the dynamic research environment of the department. A high level of mathematical knowledge and specialty, qualified studies will be provided for the people who are studying and would like to get specialized in the field. The master programme will prepare the students for the doctorate of mathematics in national and international universities. It is aimed to provide the mathematicians who would like to work in academic or non-academic fields with the ability to acquire knowledge by conducting scientific research and evaluating the knowledge. In line with this aim, contributions will be made to train the educational staff, to cooperate with the other fields and to prepare thesis, projects, seminars, articles and researches in accordance with national and international criteria.
