The dictionary includes 2.607 words which are used frequently by hearing impaired people. A number of visuals, hand figures and verbal explanation of each word are included in the dictionary.

Aiming to help hearing impaired people to learn Turkish and the signs of the words they do not know, eliminate their linguistic, cognitive and social-emotional inadequacies and develop themselves in these fields, get acquainted with the cultural, social and natural environment around them, 10 thousand dictionaries were published.

Thanks to the dictionary, normally hearing people may learn the Turkish sign language in accordance with the standards. In that way, normally hearing and hearing impaired people can communicate easily. It is also predicted that the dictionary will contribute to develop the communication between hearing impaired people, enable them to reach sources of information and ease the cultural transfer.

It is expected that Turkish Sign Language Dictionary will make contributions to the standardization of the sign language which has different usages in different areas. So, it will prevent the different usage of the signs standing for certain terms in different areas or regions.
