Work Experience and Money Making Opportunities for University Students from Turkish Employment Agency

Dr. Nusret Yazıcı, the general director of Turkish Employment Agency (İŞKUR) and the chairman of World Association of Public Employment Services (WAPES) explained that university students had the opportunity to participate in job training program, get work experience and in return gain 1.000 TL monthly in the cities where they study.

Unemployed who have completed 15 years of age and university students can participate in the program which is implemented in the workplaces where there are at least 2 insured workers  and with no cost for the employer. They gain both experience with a profession and 1.000 TL monthly – 38,48 TL daily.

Dr. Nusret Yazıcı, the general director of Turkish Employment Agency (İŞKUR) said ‘Students can either find workplaces or receive help from closest İŞKUR units all over Turkey. They can not only gain money but also find job easily with their job experience after graduation. Because almost all businesses ask for work experince of the students which they gain during their education before employing. The employer and participant determines the duration of the program – 3 months or 15 days. The aim is that the student learns how to do the job. We give participation certificate to the job training program at the end of the program. In this way, they can prove their work experience when they have graduated. This program is especially important with regard to the reduction of youth unemployment. In addition, if our employers employ people who participate in this program,  we pay their insurance premium for 42 months in the manufacturing sector and 30 months in other sectors.’
