The second meeting of “Evaluation of the Contribution of the Universities to their Regions” the first one of which was held in Bingöl by Higher Education Council Presidency in accordance with 2023 targets of our country was held in Ordu University.
In addition to the Higher Education Council Executive Board Members Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal, Prof. Dr. Abdullah Çavuşoğlu, Chairman Advisor Prof. Dr. Sezer Şener Komsuoğlu and our Rector Prof. Dr. Reha Metin Alkan, the rectors of Ordu, Adana Ahi Evran, Aksaray, Amasya, Bayburt, Bilecik, Bozok, Bursa Teknik, Çankırı Karatekin, Düzce, Giresun, Gümüşhane, Karabük, Karamanoğlu Mehmet Bey, Kastamonu, Kırklareli, Kilis 7 Aralık, Mehmet Akif Ersoy, Namık Kemal, Nevşehir Hacı Bektaş Veli, Osmaniye Korkut Ata, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Sinop, Uşak, Yalova Universities attended to the meeting held under the Chairmanship of the Higher Education Council President Prof. Dr. M. A. Yekta Saraç.
The opening speech of the meeting in which the social, economic, cultural, sportive and scientific contributions of the universities to their regions were discussed within the context of “Regional Development National Strategy” prepared for attaining 2023 targets of our country was made by the Higher Education Council President Prof. Dr. M. A. Yekta Saraç.
Saraç said, “Evaluating the feedbacks, our universities can analyze the problems of the region and organizes various events regarding these problems. However, the impact analysis of these events is limited and it should be developed. The demand of the universities from Higher Education Council is not strategical but daily needs. So, we should carry out more detailed studies together. In this meeting, we will discuss these issues under five main titles. We would like to initiate a systematic evaluation and competitive process focusing on the development of the city and the region in cooperations with the Ministry of Development.”
Furthermore, the contribution of the Higher Education Quality Assurance Regulation which went into effect by being published in the Official Gazzette dated 23 July 2015 and Quality Council to be constituted within the context of the regulation to the process was discussed in the meeting.
