“Pottery Technology and Production Chain” Conference Held

The conference “Pottery Technology and Production Chain” was held in the conference hall of our university vocational school with the participation of Dr. Martin Godon as the speaker.

Our Rector Prof. Dr. Reha Metin Alkan, Director of the Institute of Social Sciences Prof. Dr. Mehmet Evkuran, Director of the Institute of Technical Sciences Prof. Dr. Menderes Suiçmez, Director of Social Sciences Vocational School Asst. Prof. Dr. Zekeriya Işık, Director of Hitit Application and Research Center Assoc. Prof. Dr. İlknur Taş, our university academic staff, students and media participated in the conference.

Our university Hitit Application and Research Center director Assoc. Prof. Dr. İlknur Taş says “Pottery is a very important material to identify cultural regions and detect historical terms starting from Neolithic Age. Formats, decorations and ornaments of the pottery set ground for cultural and chronological description and definitions.”

The speaker of the conference, Prehistorian Dr. Martin Godon who is head of department of French Anatolian Studies Institute Archaeology refers to the subject “production chain” which is needed to understand all the cultural relation constituting the main topic of the conference.

In his presentation, Dr. Martin Godon gave detailed information about the questions “Where raw materials come from, why the substance is selected, which building technology is used, are there different methods and practices in the same cultural area?”

At the same time, workshop will be held in four sessions over two days on behalf of the theory into practice after the conference.
