Our University Rector Prof. Dr. Reha Metin Alkan visited Musa Aydın who is the director of Turkey Wrestling Federation.
Vice-president of Turkey Wrestling Federation Mustafa Fidan, board member of Turkey Wrestling Federation, deputy mayor Zeki Gül, Technical Committee Chairman of Turkey Wrestling Federation Prof. Dr. Haluk Koç and World and Olympic Champion Tevfik Kış participated in the visit.
Stating that wrestling is the favourite sport in Çorum and done actively in Çorum, our Rector Prof. Dr. Alkan said that Turkey Interuniversities Wrestling Championship was held with the participation of 1000 people, 750 of whom is sportsman from 75 different universities in our province. The 12th World University Wrestling Championships will be held on October 25-30, 2016 hosted by our university, as well.
Expressing the importance of holding the World Championship in Çorum, our Rector Prof. Dr. Alkan said “World and Olympic champions such as Tevfik Kış and Nazmi Avluca were crowned from Çorum where the wrestling sport has an important place and we will do our best to introduce and display the ancestor sport to the world deservedly.”
“In the championship which will be held with the coopeartion of Çorum Governorship, Çorum Municipality, Çorum Trade and Industry Chamber, Zeki Gül who is Çorum Deputy Mayor and board member of Turkey Wrestling Federation has intensive efforts and supports too much. I believe that we will represent our country in the best way in the championship.” said Rector Prof. Dr. Alkan and emphasized that he waited for the supports to the championship from Musa Aydın who is the director of Turkey Wrestling Federation.
The director Aydın took attention to the fact that Zeki Gül who is the board member of Turkey Wrestling Federation is from Çorum. Musa Aydın wished success our Rector Prof. Dr. Alkan by expressing he would support to the 12th World University Wrestling Championships which would be held in Çorum.
