Within the context of 10th anniversary of our university, International Symposium on Nehrin Piri: Koyunbaba to be hosted by our university in cooperations with Turkish Historical Society, Prime Ministry of Republic of Turkey Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities, Çorum Governorship, Osmancık Municipality and Hitit Academy Foundation finished.
AK Party Çorum MP Lütfiye İlksen Ceritoğlu Kurt, our Rector Prof. Dr. Reha Metin Alkan, Osmancık Sub-Governor Cemalettin Demircioğlu, Osmancık Mayor Hamza Karataş, representatives from public institutions, academicians, researchers and our students attended the event.
After the opening speech of Asst. Prof. Dr. Zekeriya Işık, Head of Social Sciences Vocational School, our Rector Prof. Dr. Reha Metin Alkan said, “We know that each city has one or more universities. These universities contribute a lot to their cities and regions in social and cultural terms. Our university has 16000 students and nearly 1000 staff. Our occupancy rate reached to 99,5%. Hitit University is a leading institution with its Technocity and carrying out open-heart surgeries.” and he thanked to Osmancık Mayor Hamza Karataş, Osmancık Sub-Governor Cemalettin Demircioğlu and all the contributors of the event.

During the opening session of the International Symposium on Nehrin Piri: Koyunbaba moderated by Prof. Dr. Ahmet Taşğın, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Taşğın presented “Kevn ve Mekan İlişkisi: Horasan’dan Balkanlara Marifetin Taşıyıcısı ve Temsilcisi Koyun Baba”, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Gülten Abdulla presented “Romanya’da Koyun Baba” and Veysel Bayram presented “Otman Baba Menakıbında Koyun Baba”.
After the opening session, a tour was organized to the religious, historical and cultural places in Osmancık. On the second day of the event organized in Vocational School Campus of our University, 4 sessions were held concurrently in three different halls and 45 proceedings were presented with the attendance of 55 scientists in the symposium.
