The proposal we made to CoHE about the opening of the Department of Management and Information Systems in the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences of our University was accepted at the Higher Education Executive Committee Meeting dated 04.06.2017.
Business programs that are at the top of the world's largest and fastest growing training programs naturally trigger the need for expertise in management information systems. The storage of information through information technology tools has become increasingly widespread and the management information systems have become important in the decision-making processes of enterprises in order to process the information, transmit it to the related persons when necessary and re-use if necessary in the direction of developments and changes in information and communication technologies. Management information systems in enterprises provide integrated control and coordination of functional areas such as General Management, Information Systems Management, Finance Management, Accounting, Production Management, Marketing Management and Personnel Management, and they are managed according to the company's mission. In addition, demand for information products and organizations that provide support for these products is rapidly increasing, and companies that meet these requirements are becoming important names in the market. This demand is driven by the necessity of global competition, and the rapid development of technologies used for this access, the increase in the consumption of technology products by the young population and the opening of new markets to these technologies rapidly can be counted. Companies see educated individuals who understand IT technologies and systems and the future as one of the most important strategic values.
Opening this section, which is one of the concrete indicators of employment-oriented department / program opening understanding, will bring a different vitality to our Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences. The first section opened in this faculty was Business Administration (1993). Then, Economics in 2003, Finance and Political Science and Public Administration departments were opened in 2005. This faculty has not opened any new part from 2005 until 2012, so we have 4 sections in total. International Affairs in 2012, Banking and Finance in 2013, International Trade and Logistics and Health Institutions Management in 2014, Labor Economics and Industrial Relations in 2016, and Econometrics and Management Information Systems in 2017, with a total of 14 secondary education programs.
