The Conference “Diplomacy and Literature” Held

The conference titled “Diplomacy and Literature” was held in our university Ethem Erkoç Conference Hall with the participation of Ambassador-Writer Fırat Sunel as a speaker.

Before the conference Fırat Sunel visited our Rector Prof. Dr. Reha Metin Alkan in his office. After the visit, our Rector Prof. Dr. Reha Metin Alkan, Çorum Provincial Muftus Dr. Ahmet Akın, our university academic staff and students attended the conference. 

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Meral Demiryürek who is the academic staff in Arts and Science Faculty, Turkish Language and Literature department made the opening speech of the conference. She started her words with the catchword of Shakespeare “All the world is a stage". She continued “We come to the world, play our roles and when it's time, we leave quietly like a shadow.”

By expressing his content of being in Çorum, Ambassador-Writer Fırat Sunel talked about the importance of a university for the development of the region. He also clarified the subject “Why does an ambassador write a novel?”. 

Continuing to talk about the details of the relationship between diplomacy and literature, Sunel said that diplomacy is a profession capable of creating the necessary floor for a literary person, that there are hundreds of people who are professors in the world, diplomats and writers / poets, and even the writers or poets who received the Nobel Prize for Literature.

The conference finished with the question and answer part following the signature ceremony.
