Panel on the National Anthem and Mehmet Akif Ersoy Held

A program organized within the scope of March 12, the Acceptance of the Turkish National Anthem and Commemoration of Mehmet Akif Ersoy, began with the recitation of the National Anthem and a moment of silence. The opening speech was delivered by our Dean, Prof. Dr. Zekeriya Işık, who highlighted that Mehmet Akif Ersoy, through the National Anthem, most beautifully expressed the sentiments of the Turkish nation during the War of Independence, along with its national and spiritual values, ideals, and vision extending from the past to the future.

The panel, moderated by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Erol Kuyma, featured Assoc. Prof. Dr. Elif Ayan Nizam and Dr. Lecturer Hümeyra Karabıyık as speakers. In her presentation titled “The Writing Process of the National Anthem,” Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nizam discussed the historical background and composition process of the anthem and Mehmet Akif Ersoy’s role during that period. Dr. Lecturer Karabıyık, in her presentation titled “Mehmet Akif Ersoy in Archival Documents and Historical Context,” examined his life, intellectual world, and ideas through archival sources.

Faculty members and students attended the program, which concluded with a group photo session.
