We Visited Boğazköy (Hattuşa Archaeological Site) with Our Students

A technical field trip was organized by our Faculty with the aim of increasing students’ awareness of history and culture and enabling them to observe the cultural heritage of Hattuşa, the capital of the Hittites, on site.

Students from the Departments of Anthropology, Archaeology, History, and Turkish Language and Literature participated in the trip. During the visit, important archaeological sites such as Hattuşa Ancient City, the King’s Gate, the Lion Gate, the Earth Gate, the Yazılıkaya Open-Air Sanctuary, and the Boğazköy Archaeological Museum were visited.

The trip was conducted under the supervision of our Vice Dean, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ayşegül Şarbak from the Department of Anthropology, and Dr. Önder İpek, coordinator of the Hattuşa excavations and faculty member of the Department of Archaeology. Throughout the visit, students received firsthand information about the historical and cultural heritage of the Hittite civilization.
