PROGRAMME OBJECTIVE
The coaching education department trains coaches, fitness trainers and conditioning coaches who are highly skilled in communication, disciplined, able to manage and guide athletes in their field of expertise, possess leadership qualities, are open to innovation, and are active in various sports disciplines. The programme includes theoretical courses and practical applications related to movement and exercise sciences, sports health sciences, and psycho-social aspects of sport.
Our aim in the education and training process is to prepare the ground for training coaches needed in the field of sports and developing elite athletes who will best represent our country and nation by establishing the necessary psychological and physical infrastructure for coaching candidates to receive qualified training in their field of expertise and ensuring they acquire up-to-date developments in the field.
DEGREE AWARDED
Students who successfully complete the four-year coaching education programme receive a bachelor's degree in coaching education, thereby fulfilling the prerequisites for obtaining a senior coach certificate in their field of specialisation upon graduation. At the same time, students in the Coaching Department have the right to pursue a Double Major Programme (ÇAP) in the departments of Physical Education and Sports, Recreation and Sports Management, provided they meet the necessary conditions.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS AND RULES
Students who successfully complete all courses available in the programme (equivalent to a total of 153 credits) during the 4-year education and training period and have a weighted grade point average of at least 2.00 out of 4.00 graduate with a bachelor's degree.
TRANSFER TO HIGHER DEGREE PROGRAMMES
Students who successfully complete their undergraduate education may pursue postgraduate (Master's/Doctorate) programmes in their own or related fields, provided they obtain the required score in the ALES (Academic Personnel and Postgraduate Education Entrance Examination) and foreign language examination, as determined each year by the university senate.
FIELDS OF WORK AND EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES
Graduates of the department work as coaches, fitness trainers or sports specialists in amateur and professional sports clubs and in the central and regional organisations of the General Directorate of Youth and Sports. They can also work as fitness instructors in private gyms.
