The Training on Preparing Questions Based on Cognitive Skills in Science Education Has Been Successfully Completed

The training program titled “Preparing Questions Based on Cognitive Skills in Science Education”, organized under the TÜBİTAK 2237-A Support Program for Scientific Education Activities and coordinated by Dr. Ahmet Bolat, faculty member of our department, has been successfully completed with an intensive five-day academic and practical schedule. The program was designed for graduate-level researchers in the field of science education.

Theory and Practice Combined

On the first day, after introducing the project team and participants, theoretical sessions were held on the classification of human behaviors, types of behaviors according to cognitive domains, and the Revised Bloom’s Taxonomy. In the following days, hands-on workshops were conducted on analyzing learning outcomes in curriculum documents, classifying these outcomes by cognitive levels, and structuring them within a measurement and evaluation framework.

Development of Question Writing Skills

On the third and fourth days, comprehensive training was provided on the characteristics and development processes of multiple-choice and open-ended questions, along with validity and reliability criteria. Participants then designed original questions aligned with different cognitive levels, applying the theoretical knowledge they had gained.

Qualified Development Supported by Expert Feedback

The final day of the program was dedicated to evaluation sessions in which the questions prepared by participants were reviewed by expert academics and assessment specialists. Participants received individualized feedback on structure, language, measurement validity, and scientific accuracy. This process significantly strengthened their competencies in developing measurement tools.

An Experience Enriched with Çorum’s Cultural Heritage

Alongside academic training, participants also had the opportunity to experience one of Çorum’s traditional dishes, İskilip dolması. This cultural activity added a local flavor to the program and supported the sharing of cultural heritage.

A Scientifically and Culturally Rich Learning Process

The program, designed to enhance participants’ ability to analyze curriculum outcomes based on cognitive levels, develop qualified assessment tools, and improve question-writing skills, made meaningful contributions to both the academic growth and professional development of the participants.
