Hitit University's Signature on Welding Operator Training for Women in Çorum
Women Integrated into Industry with the Contribution of Hitit University within the Scope of the “Women's Hand in Çorum Industry” Project
Within the framework of the “Women's Hand in Çorum Industry” Cooperation Protocol, implemented to ensure greater participation of women in the industrial sector and to increase their competencies in technical fields, Welding Operator Training was organized for women in Çorum.
Hitit University, the region's technical university, made a significant academic contribution to the project, which is being carried out by the Çorum Governorship, the Çorum Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the Central Black Sea Development Agency (OKA), focusing on “Women's Entrepreneurship and Women's Employment,” the theme for the years 2024-2025, as determined by the General Directorate of Development Agencies of the Ministry of Industry and Technology.
Following the successes achieved, particularly in the field of CNC Vertical Machining Center Operator training, the expertise of Hitit University, a leading educational institution in the region, has been brought into play in welding training, one of the areas in high demand in the industry.
Within the scope of the training program conducted in cooperation with OKA, Çorum Organized Industrial Zone (OSB) Directorate and Başermak Makine Metal San. ve Tic. Ltd. Şti. (Robinson Co.), and in accordance with the sub-protocol signed, practical welding training was provided by Assoc. Dr. Bünyamin Çiçek, a faculty member of the Hitit University Welding Technology Program.
80 Hours of Practical Training for Women Conducted
As part of the sub-protocol, a comprehensive 10-day, 80-hour Welding Operator Training was planned and implemented for 15 women in Çorum. The training content focused on the most commonly used Gas Metal Arc Welding (MIG/MAG), TIG Welding, and Laser Welding techniques in the industry. Within the scope of the theoretically and practically designed program, a significant portion of the training was conducted at Başermak Makine's production facilities and under the academic guidance of Hitit University.
Women's Power Meets Industry with Hitit University's Academic Support
Thanks to this training, which enables women to take a more active role in industry by acquiring technical skills, women trained as welding operators contributed to the production power of Çorum's industry. In this context, Hitit University, which plays a leading role in industry-university cooperation in the region, guided the project with both its academic knowledge and practical training experience.
Thanks to Hitit University's expert academic staff and industry collaborations, the goal was to increase the employment of women in technical fields, and a significant step was taken.
