Training on Türkiye’s 5G Process, 6G Vision and Standard Essential Patents (SEP) Held
Hitit University Technology Transfer Office (TTO) Inc. organized a training program titled “Türkiye’s 5G Process, 6G Vision and Standard Essential Patents (SEP).” The training, attended by academics and students, comprehensively addressed the development of technology from past to present.
During the program, Dr. Lecturer Muhammed Yusuf Onay shared insights on Türkiye’s 5G process and the vision for 6G. The technological evolution from 1G to 5G was explained in detail, highlighting the innovations introduced by each generation and the transformation of communication infrastructure. Particular attention was given to the advantages of 5G technology, such as high speed, low latency, and enhanced connectivity capacity. In addition, future projections for 6G technology and global developments in this field were discussed. It was emphasized that 6G will bring significant transformations not only in communication but also in areas such as smart homes, agriculture, education, and healthcare.
As part of the program, TTO Deputy Coordinator Burcu Kabakdere delivered a presentation on Standard Essential Patents (SEP). It was underlined that SEPs play a critical role in the formation of technological standards and that owning such patents holds great economic and strategic importance. Furthermore, it was stated that patents developed in the field of 6G increase competitiveness and are decisive for countries’ technological independence.
Participants had the opportunity to gain comprehensive knowledge about both current 5G applications and the technological transformation extending toward 6G.
