The Hotel, Restaurant and Catering Services Department began accepting students in the Fall Semester of 2018-2019. The first program offered under the department was the "Cookery" program. Graduates who successfully complete all program requirements receive an "Associate Degree in Cookery." The Hitit University Alaca Avni Çelik Vocational School Cookery Program accepts students who have achieved a sufficient score on the TYT exam administered by the Council of Higher Education's Assessment, Selection and Placement Center and who meet specific requirements. Students are also admitted to the program through horizontal transfer. These transfers are regulated by regulations, and students may transfer between degree programs at different higher education institutions or between degree programs within the same institution only within the limits of the pre-announced number of students and transfer requirements.
Students wishing to transfer from higher education institutions in Turkey to Hitit University are subject to the provisions of the "Regulation on Transfer Between Associate and Undergraduate Programs, Double Majors, Minors, and Inter-Institutional Credit Transfers in Higher Education Institutions." The exemption exam for common compulsory foreign language courses is administered at the beginning of the fall semester on the date specified in the academic calendar. No make-up exams are granted for this exam. Students from faculties, vocational schools, or colleges that do not offer a preparatory program are eligible to take the exemption exam. Students taking the exemption exam must apply to the relevant unit within the time period specified in the academic calendar. Students must have successfully completed all courses in the program. Students must have earned a minimum of 100 ECTS credits and have a GPA of at least 2.00 out of 4.00.
The program is provided at Hitit University Alaca Avni Çelik Vocational School. The program aims to train qualified tourism technicians and chefs who can also work in related sectors. To this end, training programs have been designed to meet the needs of the sector and changing environmental conditions, and updates are made periodically to take into account the sector's dynamic nature. Culinary program students can take practical courses in a well-equipped Kitchen Workshop. The program spans four semesters.
Students who successfully complete the program will have the opportunity to work in the relevant departments of accommodation, food and beverage, banquet, and industrial food preparation businesses within the tourism industry, primarily in the kitchen and service departments, based on the competencies they have gained in their chosen field/profession. Tourism businesses such as accommodation, food and beverage, transportation businesses, travel agencies, and tour operators constitute direct employment. Indirect employment includes jobs in sectors that provide the products and services needed by the tourism sector and in activities that benefit from tourist spending. This sector plays an active role in direct employment creation and positively impacts indirect employment through investments such as accommodation facilities. Furthermore, considering the induced employment generated by the increased income generated by tourism development by local residents, the tourism sector is expected to have a significant employment impact, particularly for Çorum province.
