Our Mission:

As the Hitit University Anthropology Department, our mission is to build, produce, and share profound knowledge of human history, cultural diversity, and social transformations. By integrating the social, cultural, physical, and archaeological branches of anthropology with an interdisciplinary approach, our department aims to:

Understand and explain universal human experiences and local identity structures,

Disseminate knowledge in collaboration with both academic and national/international stakeholders,

Explore, preserve, and make visible the cultural heritage of communities in Turkey and various regions of the world.

Our mission is to strengthen our students' critical thinking skills, ensure they use scientific methodologies competently, and cultivate them as individuals with a sense of responsibility in society. Furthermore, we aim to contribute to the development of our students' anthropological perspectives by actively participating in cultural projects involving public institutions and organizations and NGOs.

As the Hitit University Anthropology Department, our vision is: Our vision is to be a leading academic center that diligently trains future anthropologists, pioneers knowledge production through interdisciplinary research, and plays an active role in the preservation of cultural heritage at local and global levels. The cornerstones of our vision are as follows:

Internationalization: To elevate our department to a respected position within local and global anthropological networks through high-impact research and collaborations published in international journals.

Community Service: We engage society in scientific processes and produce useful results to protect cultural heritage through field studies and projects that illuminate the past and shed light on the present, encompassing cultural riches.

Contemporary Education: With our fully equipped and constantly updated equipment, laboratories, ethnographic workshops and interdisciplinary symposiums/congresses we organize, and a rich curriculum prepared within a global perspective, we provide our students with not only theoretical but also practical and well-equipped education.

Sustainable Research Network: We strive to establish a research network that is continuously updated through national and international grant programs, conferences, and symposiums.

Ethical and Responsible Anthropology: We embrace a responsible scientific approach that respects ethical principles, the rights of participating communities, and the expectations of our stakeholders at all stages of research.

In line with this vision, we continue our work to deepen intercultural understanding, illuminate the identity dynamics of societies, and ensure sustainable academic excellence in the production of scientific knowledge.
