The Department of Mathematics was established in 2004 under Gazi University and began operating under Hitit University in 2006. The department started its academic journey in 2009 with two faculty members and one research assistant, primarily contributing to the mathematics courses offered across various faculties of the university.
With the expansion of its academic staff over the years, the department was authorized by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) in 2012 to admit undergraduate students, officially launching its undergraduate program in the 2012–2013 academic year. Since the Fall Semester of 2015–2016, the department has also been offering a graduate (Master’s) program, strengthening its academic activities at the postgraduate level.
Today, the department hosts 1 Associate Professor, 4 Assistant Professors (Dr. Öğretim Üyesi), and 2 Lecturers, continuing its educational and research mission with a qualified academic team.
