WHAT IS MEDEK?
It is an acronym for Vocational Education Evaluation and Accreditation. It is the name of an association that registers international accreditations. It was established with the encouragement and support of the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) to contribute to a qualified workforce within the framework of Turkey's strategic development plans and to improve the qualifications of vocational schools and their graduates. With this motivation and the support of our universities, the Vocational Education Evaluation and Accreditation Association (MEDEK) was established in 2021.
In 2023, the Higher Education Quality Board (YÖKAK) granted accreditation authority to 83 vocational school programs to ensure the assessment of their compliance with established standards, quality criteria, and performance benchmarks.
MEDEK'S MAIN PURPOSE
To contribute to the improvement of the quality of education by conducting accreditation, evaluation, and informational activities for vocational school (associate degree) education programs. By improving the quality of education and training; Our mission is to pioneer the training of professionals who can keep up with professional developments, respond to changing workforce needs, possess high professional knowledge and skills, are socially responsible, and possess the qualifications sought by the relevant sector.
SOME OF MEDEK'S ACTIVITIES
To accredit educational programs upon application and conduct evaluation and information activities related to accreditation. To select and train evaluators who will conduct and serve on accreditation efforts, or to establish an evaluation and accreditation board for this purpose and conduct this process through this board. To inform and train program directors and faculty members on program evaluation. To continuously monitor the expectations and needs of associate degree programs and all their stakeholders and to update program evaluation criteria. To establish international mutual and multilateral recognition agreements. To become members of relevant national and international organizations. To develop current policies regarding undergraduate program transition exams for associate degree graduates. To develop or support policies for the employment of associate degree graduates. To develop employment policies for graduates of accredited programs.
