The Department of Recreation, Faculty of Sport Sciences, Hitit University, aims to train professionals who will help individuals utilize their free time in a healthy, productive, and meaningful way. The department emphasizes the impact of recreation and leisure time on human health, quality of life, and social integration, embracing an approach that supports individuals' physical, social, and psychological well-being. To this end, students gain knowledge and skills in planning, managing, and evaluating professional recreation programs, and receive practical training in the effective use of parks, sports facilities, and community recreation areas.
Based on the multidisciplinary nature of recreation, the department implements an educational model that synthesizes the fields of health, environment, education, social sciences, and management. Students are equipped with theoretical knowledge related to the field, as well as program design for different age and social groups, leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
