Today, people develop and use unique designs that reflect their own culture and traditions by combining aesthetics, functionality, and technology in the spaces they inhabit. The changing needs and demands of consumers have led businesses operating in the field of interior design to increase the production of “alternative art and design” products within their production systems. In an era where quality and competition are intense and consumer expectations are constantly evolving, the acquisition of professional competencies for individuals to be employed in the field of interior design has become increasingly important.

The first step in Interior Design is to thoroughly understand the place of the interior space within the building’s structural system and the way it is formed. With this understanding, the interior designer will be able to work effectively on architectural spaces, make necessary design decisions, and propose changes that may alter the essential characteristics of an architectural environment.

Research conducted across Turkey reveals that one of the biggest challenges faced by industrial enterprises—especially those producing for interior spaces—is the lack of technically skilled personnel capable of creating original designs. Graduates of this program can work in various sectors such as the design departments of Furniture and Decoration Workshops, as project staff in Restoration Firms, as draftspersons or designers in Architecture and Engineering Offices, or as managers, assistant managers, supervisors, and controllers in model-making studios and similar fields.

The goal of this program is to meet the demand for qualified design professionals needed in businesses and design offices. The shortage of designers in our country has prevented many sectors from achieving brand recognition. The lack of skilled technical personnel is a common problem across many industries; therefore, graduates of this program will not face employment difficulties. Moreover, students who successfully complete this program and pass the Vertical Transfer Examination (DGS) can continue their education in related undergraduate departments such as Handicrafts Design and Production, Traditional Turkish Handicrafts, Interior Architecture, Interior Architecture and Environmental Design, and Architecture.
