About the Program
As of the Fall semester of the 2015–2016 academic year, the opening of the Fashion Design Program under the Department of Design has been approved by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK).
The Fashion Design Program trains intermediate staff for the textile and apparel industries operating in the private sector, awarding graduates the title of Fashion Design Technician.
The associate degree program lasts 2 years and consists of 4 semesters. Courses are offered on a semester basis, and a total of 56 weeks of education is provided, with each semester including at least 14 weeks of instruction.
Each student is required to complete a 30-working-day compulsory internship.
There are opportunities for horizontal transfer between vocational schools.
Graduates who are successful in the Vertical Transfer Exam (DGS) can continue their education in related undergraduate programs such as Fashion Design, Textile Design, Textile and Fashion Design, Textile Engineering, and similar fields.
Employment Opportunities for Graduates
Graduates can find employment in:
Companies engaged in ready-to-wear and garment production,
Firms producing custom-made clothing for fashion houses or boutiques,
Consulting offices involved in clothing design, pattern making, and prototype development.
