The province of Çorum with its natural values, archeological and historical values (Boğazkale-Hattuşaş) has an extremely important place in Turkey. The province has its own problems and development potentials. It has the agricultural potential, the machinery and the soil industry potential which makes the city a special region. Çorum cannot take advantage of its development dynamics although Turkey's capital Ankara is very close to it. With Hitit University, the development of the city has gained a new impetus. For many years, Çorum has remained out of many innovations and the university has brought different expansions. From this perspective, Surveying Engineering Department will contribute to the creation of spatial databases and geographic information systems regarding providing a sustainable development in the region and urban and rural area regulations and related legal studies, development applications, cadastral works, expropriation, immovable (real estate) valuation. In particular, it is preparing the infrastructure and common use possibility for the branches of the profession such as geographical information system for the purpose of improving the infrastructure for map of the existing maps, cadastral map, zoning plan, technical infrastructure (water, channel, gas, telephone, electricity etc.)

The number of the undergraduate programs which was 39 in 2016 has reached 70 as of November 2016.
