Hitit University hosts The 34th Excavation, Research and Archaeometry Symposium

The 34th Excavation, Research and Archaeometry Symposium, which is held with the contribution of the Promotion Fund of The Turkish Prime Ministry and the cooperation of our universit and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism General Directorate of Cultural Heritage and Museums, has started at Anitta Hotel.

The opening meeting has hosted the Minister of Culture and Tourism Ertuğrul GÜNAY,  Cultural Heritage and Museums General Secretary Osman Murat SÜSLÜ, our rector Prof. Dr. Reha Metin ALKAN and local authorities along with a lot of local and foreign scientists who make research at Anatolia.

The Minister of Culture and Tourism Ertuğrul GÜNAY made a speech and emphasised that historical sites belong to whole humanity and that Turkish language is deseired to be a scientific language. Our rector Prof. Dr. Reha Metin ALKAN emphasised the significance of the symposium for the promotion of Turkey’s historical and cultural heritage and the evaluation of excavation studies. He also gave information about the development of the university and its current studies related to archeology, ancient languages, anthropology and Hittite Civilization.

The speeches were followed by the first session of the symposium. The symposium will last until June 1, 2012 and will end with the visit to Boğazköy-Alacahöyük on June 2, 2012.
