In accordance with the requirements of the age and for an education and research infrastructure which can compete with the world, it is important for the universities to have an infrastructure which is accessible to printed and electronic sources and presented to the users’ service 7/24. It is seen that the best universities in the world make large investments for their libraries and take necessary precautions to sustain these investments.
Considered as an indispensable part of higher education and providing important contributions to the quality of education and research, libraries must be supported with the printed and electronic publications. Except for the books in the libraries of our university units, the number of printed and electronic books exceeds 200.000 in our central library. As of today, there 44.612 printed books, 155.966 e-books and in total 200.578 books in our central library.
However, our users can easily access to the most current and active information via 1.177 printed magazines, 43.700 e-magazines and 1.460 audiovisual materials (CD, DVD, etc.). Also, access to nearly 50 databases including millions of magazines, thesis, article and academic studies thanks to more widespread use of electronic books all over the world is provided easily from anywhere with internet access. Our e-books can be read easily from the many private e-book reader with a computer.
Our central library is also able to meet the demands coming from many universities in our country through the agency of Turkey Information Document Delivery System and Interlibrary Cooperation and Tracking System besides our university users’ , which is a great please and proud of us.
