Hitit University 10th Year Memorial Forest

On account of the 10th anniversary of the foundation of our university, a ceremony was held with a sapling planted in a memorial forest which was formed in an area of 35 acres in the Kuruçay Village.

Ahmet Sami Ceylan who is AKP Çorum Deputy and Member of Agriculture, Forestry and Village Affairs Commission, our Rector Prof. Dr. Reha Metin Alkan, Orhan Çatalçam who is Director of Forestry Operations, our university senate members, academic and administrative staff, and students were participated in sapling ceremony.

Director of Forestry Operations Orhan Çatalçam said that 35 acres area was allocated to our university and 3500 saplings would be planted, he also expressed that the directorate would plant 1.5 million sapling to 240.000 decar within the context of the works of Forestry Operations Directorate.

Our Rector Prof. Dr. Alkan said “The seedlings were planted in the name of our academic and administrative staff in the first stage of the memorial forest. I hope that the work we have initiated will be a beautiful forest. After that, we will continue to send coordinate information by planting seedlings for each of our staff who will join us. Our university has been in a good spot in the last 5 years and the deficiencies are eliminated. The most basic reason for this is that our university has been working with the politics of our city, with its local dynamics, aiming at the same goal with all its sections. Because Hitit University is the university of this city. I would lik to thank our deputy Ahmet Sami Ceylan and Orhan Çatalçam, the director of Forestry Operations for their supports.”

AKP Çorum Deputy Ahmet Sami Ceylan said “Our aim is to plant 1.5 million saplings in Çorum. This is not a small number. The next generations will see here as a forest. I congratulate our Rector and his staff through this nice work.”
