Turkish higher education system has been internationalized rapidly in recent years. As the grant program of European Union (EU) in the fields of education, youth and sports, Erasmus+ Program which began in Turkey in 2003 provides many students and academic staff with overseas training. According to European Commission statistics, Turkey is the fifth country having the most outbound students after Spain, Germany, France and Italy and the third country having the most outbound academic staff within Erasmus Program. During recent years, 14 thousand students have attended Erasmus+ Program in Turkey. Furthermore, Turkey hosts 6 thousand students on average per year mostly from Germany, Poland, France, The Netherlands and Italy.
