The Aim of the Keep Lab Safety Keep You Healthy Project

It is to increase the awareness of non-physician health personnel working with human samples in biosafety in medical laboratories. Today, although medical laboratories play a critical role in the diagnosis and treatment of patients, they have many biological, chemical and physical hazards in terms of both the environment and the workers. Personnel working in medical laboratories are at risk of infecting many microbiological diseases, in particular by penetrating piercing injuries, inhalation, ingestion or contact. Several studies conducted by the Ministry of Health have found that there are significant deficiencies in biosecurity in medical laboratories. Although there are various educational materials for physicians in this issue, there is no education / information material for non-physician laboratory personnel at risk and disadvantaged situation. Within this project, face-to-face trainings will be carried out especially with staff working in medical laboratories such as microbiology, biochemistry, pathology and students trained to work in this area. The scope of the training in the project will be supported by innovative approaches such as "Web Based Training" and "Mobile Applications" to provide a better understanding of the subject. The long-term gain of the project is predicted to prevent occupational accidents that often occur in laboratories working with clinical samples in our country.
