Our university proposal to open graduate programs in Energy Systems Engineering to provide interdisciplinary education within the scope of the Institute of Science in order to increase the program diversity and to keep up to date with the opening of new graduate programs in our institutes has been accepted by the Higher Education Executive Committee Meeting dated 06/06/2018.
Why Master's Program in Energy Systems Engineering?
One of the most essential requirements and the driving force of the economic and social development of countries is energy. Today, the world is now determining the strategies of energy countries and making great investments on them. It is crucial for the sustainable development of an country to obtain and use energy efficiently, cleanly, cheaply, reliably and continuously. Our country is one of the countries with the fastest increase in energy demand in the OECD countries in the last 10 years. Many assessments made suggest that this tendency will continue in the middle and long-term. At this point, the energy strategies that our country will determine as energy demand continues to increase rapidly is a very critical and long-lasting impact.
In our country, renewable energy sources such as wind, solar, hydroelectric, geothermal and biomass provide significant potential in terms of electric energy and heat production. Given the situation in our country, it is very important that we use our renewable energy resources effectively and efficiently for our sustainable development and economic stability. In addition, the use of non-renewable energy sources such as fossil fuels and related energy systems in an efficient and efficient manner; efficient utilization of new energy systems for our country, such as nuclear power plants that produce electricity without interruption, is also important in meeting our energy needs.
In order for the energy systems and technologies mentioned to be developed in our country to be used effectively and efficiently, well-trained manpower is needed in this area. It is important that this field-powered human power has adequate equipment in both core sciences and engineering, as well as economics and international relations. At this point, it is necessary to address this field with an interdisciplinary point of view.
Seeing the university as an academic tool in the development of the whole of the humanity and of the welfare of the city, which is in the first place of the university, and then the country, our Administration continues to work with all its might to best fulfill its responsibilities under the vision of our country's 2023, 2053 and 2071 visions. With its triangulation system, which is experienced in the point of efficient and efficient use of energy resources, it produces electricity with its own electricity and meets the need of exhaust gas and heating and cooling from this system and creates awareness for other universities and public institutions. The University, which has accepted this field as one of the strategic prioritized research areas with the Alternative Energy Systems Application and Research Center opened recently, With the interdisciplinary Energy Systems Engineering Program approved by the Council of Higher Education, this field aims to contribute to the carrying out of qualified researches in our country and the training of qualified human power.
Students who are studying under the Energy Systems Engineering program will be able to develop systems for making energy resources available, develop technologies for processes such as storage, transmission and distribution of energy, improve the efficiency of existing energy systems and reduce costs, research on issues such as existing energy policies and strategies, they will catch development opportunities.
With the Thesis Master's Degree Program in Energy Systems Engineering, which was opened in 2011, the number of our undergraduate programs has reached to 35 with 218% increase as of today.
Our new program, which has been opened this year, continues to work at full speed for our first student admission.
