The Department of Physical Education and Sport, established in 2012 within the Faculty of Sport Sciences at Hitit University, aims to educate highly qualified physical education teachers and sport scientists. With an expert academic staff, contemporary teaching methods, and practice-oriented course content, our department strives to provide students with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills. Throughout their education, students gain competence in core areas such as physical education and sport pedagogy, physical fitness, movement and skill instruction, adapted physical education and sport, sport psychology, training science, and motor development. In addition, they have the opportunity to enhance their teaching and leadership abilities through applied courses.

Admission to the program is conducted through a centralized special talent examination, in accordance with the principles set by the Council of Higher Education. During the four-year undergraduate program, students are required to successfully complete a total of 240 ECTS credits consisting of compulsory and elective courses in the curriculum. Upon fulfilling the graduation requirements, students are awarded the title of “Physical Education and Sport Teacher.” Graduates are qualified to work as physical education and sport teachers in schools affiliated with the Ministry of National Education, as well as in private educational institutions, sports clubs, municipalities, federations, and various public organizations.

The department also offers students opportunities to experience diverse educational environments at national and international levels through exchange programs such as Erasmus+, Farabi, and Mevlana. Furthermore, graduates may pursue postgraduate studies—master’s or doctoral degrees—in Physical Education and Sport or related disciplines, thereby advancing their academic and professional careers.
