The Department of Mechanical Engineering, which began its educational activities within Gazi University Çorum Faculty of Engineering in the 2000–2001 academic year with an intake of 25 students, launched its evening education program in the 2003–2004 academic year. The Department has continued its educational activities within our University, which was established in 2006 and named Hitit University. The Mechanical Engineering Program admitted its first master’s students in the 2009–2010 academic year and began accepting doctoral students in the 2012–2013 academic year.

With its undergraduate and graduate programs, the Department of Mechanical Engineering adopts an educational model that combines theoretical and practical knowledge with problem-solving competence. To this end, it places great importance on industrial relations and prioritizes university–industry collaboration. Hitit University’s Department of Mechanical Engineering hosts various disciplines such as biomechanics, mechanics of materials, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, thermodynamics, control, manufacturing, and energy systems. Our Department considers interdisciplinary studies as the key to technological development and values collaboration with other engineering fields as well as educational units engaged in applied and theoretical sciences. In addition to the general machine workshop and laboratory dedicated to education and research, the Department has Mechanical, Manufacturing, Thermodynamics, and Energy Laboratories. Furthermore, academic research activities benefit from the facilities of the Faculty of Engineering Central Research Laboratory (MÜMAL). The Scientific and Technical Application and Research Center of Hitit University (HÜBTUAM), equipped with state-of-the-art accredited testing devices and equipment, provides significant support to our Department, particularly in graduate research activities.
