The Department of Mathematics was established on January 11, 2009, and began admitting students to its undergraduate program in the 2020–2021 academic year in accordance with the 2020 decision of the Council of Higher Education (YÖK). Since its establishment, our department has aimed to educate qualified individuals in the field of basic sciences by integrating both the theoretical and applied aspects of mathematics. Our program is designed to equip students with strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, and mathematical modeling skills.
Admission to our undergraduate program is based on the results of the national university entrance examinations administered by the Council of Higher Education. Students complete a four-year curriculum consisting of 240 ECTS credits to graduate. In addition to the core courses in fundamental mathematics, the curriculum offers a variety of elective courses in areas such as statistics, computer programming, differential equations, and applied mathematics. Exchange programs such as Erasmus are actively used to support students who wish to study at partner universities abroad.
Thanks to the strong theoretical foundation they acquire during their studies, our graduates are well prepared to pursue academic careers or to work in a broad range of sectors including finance, software, data analysis, education, and research. The profile of a Mathematics graduate from our department is characterized by analytical reasoning, mathematical modeling competence, the ability to work with abstract concepts, and the capacity to develop interdisciplinary solutions.
Our department also offers a solid academic progression through its graduate programs, providing students with opportunities to further specialize in various branches of mathematics.
