Field Visits Introduced Social Work Students to Professional Practice Settings

During the Spring Semester of the 2025–2026 Academic Year, various institutional visits were organized for first-year students within the scope of the Introduction to Social Work Settings course conducted by Associate Professor Rasim Babahanoğlu. These visits aimed to familiarize students with professional practice settings in the field of social work through on-site observation.

Between March 3 and June 9, 2026, students had the opportunity to visit a wide range of institutions operating in the field of social work, including Çorum Social Service Center, the 13–18 Age Children’s Homes Site, Çorum Green Crescent Counseling Center (YEDAM), Barrier-Free Living and Rehabilitation Center under the Provincial Directorate of Family and Social Services, the Social Work Unit of Erol Olçok Training and Research Hospital, Çorum Probation Directorate, Çorum Municipality Disability Education and Rehabilitation Center, Çorum Judicial Support and Victim Services Directorate, Çorum Nursing Home Elderly Care and Rehabilitation Center, and the Çorum Autism Volunteers Association.

Through these field visits, students were able to observe various social service settings firsthand, gain a closer understanding of institutional structures and functioning, and acquire direct knowledge about the duties, roles, and responsibilities of social workers.

Furthermore, the exchange of knowledge and professional experiences by practitioners working in these institutions made a significant contribution to students’ professional awareness and enabled them to relate theoretical knowledge acquired in the classroom to real-world practice. These visits provided a valuable learning experience that supported the development of students’ professional identities and strengthened their understanding of the social work profession.
