Minor Program Announcement

Starting from the 2025-2026 academic year, a Minor Program will be implemented between our department and the Department of Child Development. Detailed information regarding the Minor Program is provided in the attachment.

Application and Admission Requirements for the Minor Program

The Minor Program allows students to obtain a diploma from their main program and a certificate from the minor program. Applications must be submitted with the application form and transcript to the relevant faculty dean’s office or vocational school directorate. Unlike a Double Major Program (ÇAP), students completing a Minor Program will receive a certificate, not a diploma.

1. Application Requirements:

a) At the time of application, the student must have successfully completed all courses in their main program up to the semester in which they are applying.

b) The student’s cumulative GPA (CGPA) must be at least 2.50 out of 4.00, and they must rank in the top 20% of their class in the relevant academic year.

c) The student must not have received any disciplinary penalties.

2. Application Submission:
Applications must be submitted within the designated dates, along with the application form and transcript, to the relevant Faculty Dean’s Office or School Directorate.

3. Timing of Application:
Students may apply at the beginning of the 3rd semester at the earliest and the 6th semester at the latest of their undergraduate program.

4. Approval Process:
Applications deemed eligible by the relevant department are finalized through the Unit Executive Board decision based on the department’s recommendation. The decision, along with copies of relevant attachments, is submitted to the Registrar’s Office. Successful applicants are announced along with alternates before the course registration renewal date in the academic calendar.

5. Special Talent Exams:
Departments admitting students through special talent exams require applicants to pass the exams set by the respective departments.

6. Enrollment Restrictions:
A student may not be enrolled in more than one Double Major program simultaneously. However, enrollment in both a Double Major and a Minor Program simultaneously is allowed.

7. Loss of Minor Student Status:
Students who lose their Minor Program status for any reason are not allowed to reapply or continue in the Minor Program.

8. Registration:
Students accepted into the Minor Program must register during the course registration renewal days specified in the academic calendar, or, if excused, by the final add/drop day approved by the Unit Executive Board.
