One of the world’s most prestigious higher education ranking organizations, Times Higher Education (THE), has announced the results of the 2026 World University Rankings.
According to the THE 2026 World University Rankings, in which universities were evaluated this year, Hitit University ranked in the 1501+ band overall among all universities, while it climbed 465 places in the “Education” category.
Times Higher Education evaluates universities based on five different criteria: teaching, research environment, research quality, industry, and international outlook. This year, it presented the rankings of 2,191 universities. Among them, 109 universities from Turkey were included in the rankings.
Hitit University ranked 41st among the Turkish universities that made it into the ranking, and 8th among the 35 state universities established after 2000.
Hitit University Makes Progress in the Education Category
Hitit University climbed 465 places in the education category of the Times Higher Education (THE) 2026 World University Rankings. Having been ranked 1,821st in the THE 2025 list, Hitit University rose to 1,356th in the 2026 World University Rankings.
In the teaching category, Hitit University increased its percentile score from approximately 8.7 to 38.1 between 2024 and 2026, reflecting an increase of about 30 points. While it was in the 9th percentile among world universities in 2024, it reached the 38th percentile in 2026.
Among Turkish universities included in the education category of the THE 2025 World University Rankings, Hitit University advanced 24 places.
In the 2025 evaluation, Hitit University ranked 61st out of 91 universities, whereas in the 2026 rankings, it rose to 37th out of 109 universities.
Last year, in the education category, Hitit University ranked 10th among universities established after 2000; in the 2026 rankings, it reached the 5th position
