Classical Guitar Recital by Mehmet Özkanoğlu
Assoc. Prof. Mehmet Özkanoğlu, a faculty member at Mersin University Faculty of Music and Performing Arts, brought together distinguished works from the classical guitar repertoire with music enthusiasts in a concert organized by the Department of Music, Faculty of Fine Arts, Design and Architecture, Hitit University.
The concert, titled Doç. Mehmet Özkanoğlu Guitar Recital, was held on October 20, 2025, at the Ethem Erkoç Conference Hall. The event was organized by Lecturer Murat Bozyiğit from the Department of Music.
The program featured selected works from various periods and styles of the classical guitar repertoire, including J. S. Bach’s Fugue BWV 997, Isaac Albéniz’s El Albaicín, and Desert Tale (Çöl Masalı) by contemporary Turkish composer Serkan Yılmaz. The concert also included Anatolian folk song arrangements such as Gafil Gezme Şaşkın, Kırklar Semahı, and Deryalar Gibi, arranged by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Özkanoğlu himself.
The performance, which showcased the artist’s technical mastery and expressive interpretation, received great acclaim from the audience. The concert drew significant interest from both students and faculty members of the Music Department. At the end of the event, a certificate of appreciation was presented to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Özkanoğlu, followed by a group photo to commemorate the occasion.
