Successful Concert by the Hitit Chamber Orchestra at Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University
The Hitit University Faculty of Fine Arts, Design and Architecture Department of Music’s Hitit Chamber Orchestra gave a special concert at Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University Faculty of Education to celebrate May 19 – Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day. The concert took place on May 20, 2024, at the Şehit Ömer Halisdemir Conference Hall on the university’s Taşlıçiftlik Campus. The event was attended by Prof. Dr. Erdal Şenocak, Dean of the Faculty of Education, as well as academic and administrative staff and students.
Under the direction of conductor Osman Çağatay Kaya, the Hitit Chamber Orchestra presented a diverse repertoire ranging from classical masterpieces and film soundtracks to beloved Anatolian folk songs and popular music. The program included instrumental performances of Inspector Clouseau Theme, Green Onions, Cold Frosty Morning, Bohemian Rhapsody, and Sarı Zeybek, as well as vocal performances of Ben Gidersem Sazım, Sevmek Nedir, Anlamazdın, Skyfall, and Hayat Bu İşte, accompanied by various soloists.
The orchestra featured Umut Barış Demirel on bağlama and student soloists Sevilay Yalçın, Dilan Duman, Sinem Karaarslan, Zeynep Aykaç, and Alparslan Öncül, along with Lecturer Ceren Uygun Oğhan. The ensemble also included Lecturer Hatice Tök on flute and Lecturer Akanda Doğan on violin, contributing to the rich and colorful sound of the performance.
The concert, which concluded with the presentation of flowers and certificates to conductor Osman Çağatay Kaya and the faculty members, received enthusiastic applause and high praise from the audience.
