Economics education is generally oriented towards examining how individuals and societies make decisions in meeting human needs with limited resources, as well as analyzing the reasons, effects, and efficiency of these decisions.

The Undergraduate Program in Economics aims to provide students with a solid theoretical foundation in the field and to support this with applied areas through econometric and statistical methods and analyses.

Established in 2008 and offering a four-year education program, the primary objective of the Department of Economics is to equip students with a broad perspective for understanding real-world economic events and problems, and to enable them to apply modern analytical tools in addressing these issues. In line with this goal, our undergraduate curriculum focuses on core areas such as Economic Theory, Applied Economics, Economic History, Economic Policy, International Economics, and Economic Development. The language of instruction in the undergraduate program is Turkish.

In the Department of Economics, first-year courses are common for all students, while from the second year onward, students can specialize by selecting elective courses according to their interests. The variety of elective courses allows students to develop their knowledge and skills in their areas of interest and to prepare effectively and consciously for both professional and academic careers.

Our graduates are able to take on important roles in both the public and private sectors, including international markets and institutions. They may also pursue graduate and doctoral studies to build an academic career.

Currently, our department employs four professors, three associate professors, three assistant professors (Dr.), one lecturer (Dr.), one research assistant (Ph.D.), and two research assistants, totaling 14 academic staff members.
