Hitit University’s Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics was established in 2013 and admitted its first undergraduate students in 2014. The department currently operates within the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences and offers active graduate programs under the Institute of Graduate Education, including a master’s program launched in 2017 and a doctoral program initiated in 2019. Admission requirements for the undergraduate program are determined annually in the Higher Education Institutions Examination (YKS) preference guide, while the application criteria for graduate programs are updated and announced each academic term.

To qualify for graduation, students are required to complete a total of 240 ECTS credits and 208 national credits. In addition, the curriculum includes compulsory social responsibility, non-departmental, and elective courses in designated semesters, as well as a mandatory internship implemented after the sixth semester. Successful completion of the “Volunteering Studies” course offered in the seventh semester is also a graduation requirement. Students have the opportunity to participate in international exchange and internship programs, particularly Erasmus. Graduates, equipped with comprehensive theoretical and practical training, are well prepared for employment in public institutions, the private sector, genetic diagnostic centers, hospital laboratories, and research and development (R&D) units.
