The Department of Archaeology at Hitit University adopts an educational policy consistent with the mission of the faculty and the university, and shapes its four-year curriculum accordingly. Similarly, the department determines the core objectives (mission) of the university and faculty as its own goals and regards achieving this vision as a corporate objective.

The Core Objectives (Mission) of the Hitit University Department of Archaeology are as follows:

The Department of Archaeology undertakes the mission of being a unit that conducts education, research, projects, and fieldwork in light of universal values; that educates individuals who will take on roles in various areas of social life, possess critical thinking, are inquisitive, research-oriented, open to change and development, productive, and creative; and that contributes to scientific research, and social and cultural life.

In line with this, the department is committed to the following principles:

  • To instill in students a scientific research culture by enabling them to identify, understand, analyze, and comprehend the dynamics of archaeology stretching from the past to the present.

  • To teach students archaeological research methodologies, enabling them to reach accurate information by selecting appropriate techniques during field research and analysis phases.

  • To equip students with academic knowledge, while also fostering the capacity to uphold local, national, and universal values, and increasing their awareness of these values.

  • To provide in-depth information regarding the emergence of humankind, its cultural diversity, and its change over time, thereby instilling the ability to interpret and establish cause-and-effect relationships concerning the development of human history.
