Style Guide and Formatting Rules

To ensure that manuscripts submitted to our publishing house can be processed promptly, they must be prepared in accordance with the formatting guidelines and style guide set out below.

📏 Page Layout and General Format

The physical dimensions and margins of the works must adhere to a standard format.Gotham Narrow Bookshould be used as the primary typeface throughout the text.

Page size:165 × 240 mm

Margins:2 cmfor left, right, top and bottom (Binding margin: 0 cm)

Page numbering:Under no circumstances should a header, footer or page number beaddedto the text.

 

 

🖋Title and Author Information

Article or chapter titles and author details must be formatted in accordance with a specific standard.

Main heading:Gotham Narrow Book,Boldand 13 pt. Centred, single line spacing. Paragraph spacing: Top 0 pt / Bottom 8 pt. No indentation. Only thefirst letter of each word in the headingshould be capitalised.

Author Information (for works with multiple authors):

Note: There is no need to include publication details for book chapters written by a single author.

First name Surname:11 pt, right-aligned. Only the surname should be in all capital letters.

Title, Organisation and Email:9 pt, right-aligned. Titles should be abbreviated, and the first letter of each word in the organisation’s name should be capitalised.

Numbering:In texts with multiple authors, superscript numbering must be used after each author and institutional detail.

Contribution Shares:In multi-authored works, the authors’ contribution shares must be stated as a footnote at the bottom of the first page of each chapter.

 

 

📑  Abstract and Keywords

Abstract length:Minimum 350, maximum 500 words.

Summary Format:Gotham Narrow Book, 10 pt. Justified, 1.15 line spacing, 0 pt top / 4 pt bottom spacing.

Keywords:Must contain at least 5 and no more than 8 words. The "Keywords:" label must be in bold.

Term:This must be the name of the relevant academic discipline (e.g. Political History, Islamic Theology, Hadith).

Keyword:This should be the name of a subject, country, city, person or work that reflects the research.

Keywords:These should accurately reflect the content of the article; words that do not convey a conceptual meaning on their own should not be selected. If the study focuses on a specific person or work, the title of the work and the author’s name must be included.

Rule:All keywords must begin with a capital letter.

 

 

🔠Subheadings and Numbering

Headings should be organised using a hierarchical decimal system(with the exception of the Summary, Abstract, Introduction, Conclusion and References).

Decimal System:1. | 1.1. | 1.2.1. etc.

Format:Gotham Narrow Book,Bold, 11 pt. Justified, 4 pt top and bottom spacing, no indentation.

Important Rules:Section numbersshould not be generated automatically. There should be only one space between the section number and the first letter. Only the first letters of words should be capitalised, and italics should not be used.

 

 

📝  Main Text, Transliteration and Quotations

Main text:Gotham Narrow Book, 10 pt. Justified, 1.15 line spacing, 0 pt top / 4 pt bottom, no indent.

Arabic words:Times New Roman, 10 pt. Justified, 1.15 line spacing. (In footnotes, this size should be 8 pt).

Transliteration:Characters must be [Isnad Font] must be used. 

Direct Quotes:

Short quotations (2 lines or fewer):These are presented within a paragraph using quotation marks (" "). Do not use italics or bold.

Long quotations (more than 2 lines):Formatted as a separate paragraph (block quotation). Gotham Narrow Book, 10 pt, single line spacing. No indentation at the start of the paragraph; the entire paragraph must be indented by2 cmon both the left and right margins. Top 0 / Bottom 4 pt.

 

 

📊  Tables, Figures and Illustrations

Dimensions:The width of images and tables must not exceed12.5 cm.

Text Format:The body text should be in Gotham Narrow Book, 9 pt, and justified.

Labelling:Only the numbering should be in bold (e.g.Table 1.,Figure 1.). A font size of 8 pt and a line spacing of 1.15 should be used.

Citation:This should be added immediately below the image/table under the headingSource.(8 pt, 1.15 line spacing).

 

 

📚Footnotes and Bibliography

Footnotes:Gotham Narrow Book, 8 pt. Justified, single-spaced. Footnote numbers must be in 8 pt superscript.

References section:It should begin on the new page immediately following the "Conclusion" section.

Format:Gotham Narrow Book, 9 pt. Justified, single line spacing.

Indentation:The first line should have no indentation; subsequent lines should be indented by 1.25 cm from the left (hanging indent).

Citation System:References and in-text citations  ISNAD2 citation  should be organised in accordance with the system.
