About Us

Although the Department of History within the Faculty of Arts and Sciences was officially established in 2006, it admitted its first group of students in the 2009–2010 academic year.

The department currently employs 2 Professors, 1 Associate Professor, 8 Assistant Professors (Dr.), 1 Research Assistant with a PhD, and 2 Research Assistants.

The language of instruction in the department is Turkish. The department’s main fields of study include Ancient History, Medieval History, Early Modern History, Modern History, General Turkic History, and the History of the Republic of Türkiye. The list below presents the academic staff of the department and their respective areas of specialization.

Objectives of the Department

The objectives of the Department of History are to teach modern historical research and writing techniques, to improve students’ skills in the use of historical sources, and to provide comprehensive approaches to historical problems, geographical areas, and periods. In addition, our department aims to establish cooperation agreements with other history departments at both national and international levels.

Teaching Methods

Lectures, seminars, and workshops constitute the primary methods of instruction.

Assessment Methods

Lectures, seminars, and workshops form the main components of the assessment process as well.
Attendance is compulsory. If a student is absent for more than 30% of a course, they will automatically fail. In other words, students are required to attend at least 70% of all course sessions.
