Mechanical Testing Laboratory
The Mechanical Testing Laboratory provides the opportunity for in-depth investigation of the mechanical properties of engineering materials used across various industries. At the core of our laboratory is a Shimadzu universal mechanical testing machine, which enables precise measurement of material behaviours such as tensile, compression, bending, and fatigue performance.
At our university, which specializes in Mechanical and Manufacturing Technologies, this equipment allows the evaluation of advanced materials used in critical sectors such as aerospace, automotive, defence, and biomedical, under conditions that closely simulate real-world applications. Strength and durability analyses of various material groups — including metals, polymers, composites, and ceramics — are conducted to provide scientific data that contribute to new product development processes.
Our laboratory focuses on mechanical testing and characterization of structural materials designed to perform under harsh environmental conditions, particularly for the aerospace and defence industries. It also supports biomedical research, enabling the development of new biomaterials for orthopaedic and dental implants and the investigation of their mechanical performance under physiological conditions.
Supported by various projects such as TÜBİTAK, BAP, and MİTEK, our studies provide valuable data for academic research as well as reliable testing and analysis services for industrial applications. Moreover, the laboratory is actively used for experiments and hands-on training for both undergraduate and graduate students. This allows students to transform their theoretical knowledge into practical skills, contributing to the education of future material scientists and engineers.
