Admission Requirements
Applicants to the Master’s Program with Thesis in Islamic History must hold a bachelor’s degree from a Faculty of Theology, Faculty of Islamic Sciences, or a program in Religious Culture and Moral Education.
a) To be eligible for application, candidates must hold an undergraduate diploma, a diploma recognized as equivalent by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK), or a provisional graduation certificate.
b) Although a foreign language exam score is not required for application to the Master’s Program with Thesis, the foreign language scores of candidates who submit valid results from centrally administered foreign language exams recognized by the Council of Higher Education or their internationally equivalent exams will be taken into consideration in the scoring process.
c) Candidates applying to master’s programs with thesis must have a minimum ALES score of 60.
d) In evaluating applications to graduate programs, candidates’ undergraduate GPA is assessed on a 100-point scale. For conversion, an approved transcript or an official conversion table issued by the candidate’s institution is used. If such a document is unavailable, the conversion table of the Council of Higher Education is applied.
e) The evaluation for admission to the Master’s Program with Thesis is based on: 50% ALES score, 20% undergraduate GPA, 10% foreign language score (for candidates without a foreign language score from YÖKDİL, YDS, or an exam recognized by the Interuniversity Board, this component is calculated as zero), and 20% written scientific examination and/or interview. Candidates who score below 50 out of 100 in the written examination and/or interview are considered unsuccessful. Candidates are ranked from highest to lowest based on the total weighted score, provided the score is at least 50 out of 100, and admissions are finalized according to available quotas. A waiting list equal to the number of admitted students is also prepared. In case of a tie, the candidate with the higher ALES score is given priority.
f) Candidates who do not participate in the written scientific examination and/or interview are not evaluated.
g) For international students and Turkish citizens residing abroad to be admitted to graduate programs, they must hold a diploma from a higher education institution in Türkiye or a degree from an institution recognized by the Council of Higher Education.
h) International students must obtain a minimum score of 55 in English, French, or German from YÖKDİL and/or YDS, or an equivalent score from an exam recognised by the Interuniversity Board. The University Senate may raise minimum score requirements depending on the specifications of the program.
i) Applications of international students are evaluated by the Institute Administrative Board upon the recommendation of the relevant department.
