The History of Islam (PhD)

The PhD Program in Islamic History was established by the decision dated 11 September 2025.

The PhD Program in Islamic History is an advanced graduate program designed to train researchers capable of examining the political, social, cultural, and religious processes that have shaped Islamic civilisation from its origins to the present through rigorous historical and scientific methods. The program aims to cultivate scholars who possess strong theoretical and methodological competence in the field, who can produce original academic research, and who critically engage with both classical and modern sources of Islamic history. It further seeks to train experts who can analyze historical data using interdisciplinary scientific approaches and conduct in-depth, comparative studies on the developmental phases of Islamic civilisation.

In line with these objectives, the vision of the program is to create an academic environment and scholarly community that contributes to national and international literature, produces original scientific work, and leads methodological innovation in Islamic history research. Its mission is to generate knowledge grounded in reliable sources within the framework of academic ethics, to train competent scholars capable of analytically evaluating the historical development of Islamic societies, and to support the deepening of Islamic history studies in terms of theory, methodology, and scholarly content.

Admission Requirements

Student admission is carried out in accordance with Article 16 of the Hitit University Graduate Education Regulations.
