From a Rich Heritage to a Bright Future: Over a Quarter Century of Experience

On 11 July 1992, our faculty was established under Gazi University with the name "Gazi UniversityÇorum Faculty of Theology". began its academic life in the 1993-1994 academic year with only 30 students and awarded its first degrees in 1996-1997.

Since the establishment of Hitit University in 2006, our faculty has continued its steady development, strengthening its educational activities with its deep-rooted history and experience spanning over a quarter of a century.

·      IAA International Accreditation: Our faculty has been internationally accredited by the Islamic Studies Accreditation Agency (IAA) for both its Regular and Second Education programmes for a period of three years, from 18 May 2024 to 18 May 2027. This ensures that our standards in education and training, research and development, and institutional capacity are guaranteed at an international level. Our accredited programme status is also officially listed in the ÖSYM Preference Guide and YÖK Atlas.

Comprehensive and Qualified Academic Education The language of instruction at our faculty is Turkish, and we offer a well-established five-year education programme, including a compulsory one-year preparatory class. Our aim is to train well-equipped and competent individuals in the fields of Islamic Studies and Religious Studies.

·      Rich Curriculum: In addition to core subjects such as Arabic, Quranic Recitation and Tajweed, Tafsir, Hadith, and Islamic Law, compulsory and elective courses are offered in a wide range of fields by specialist teaching staff, including Psychology of Religion, Sociology of Religion, Islamic Philosophy, History of Turkish Islamic Arts, and Religious Music.

Postgraduate Programmes: For students wishing to gain academic expertise beyond their undergraduate education, our University runs postgraduate programmes within the Postgraduate Education Institute.

Modern, Spacious and Fully Equipped New Campus As of the 2021-2022 academic year, we have moved into our new buildings located within the main campus. With a total enclosed area of 18,500 m², this vast complex, consisting of two four-storey buildings, has been designed to meet all your physical and technological needs:

·      Spacious and modern 9 lecture halls, 13 undergraduate and 4 postgraduate classrooms.

·      A 135-person conference hall and 2 meeting rooms for your scientific meetings.

·      Two computer laboratories.

·      A special music and art workshop for your artistic and cultural development.

Extensive Research Opportunities: A Knowledge-Rich Library All the resources you need to deepen your research await you at our Central Library on the North Campus! Established with donations from the Turkish Religious Foundation's Centre for Islamic Studies (İSAM), IMVAK, and our valued benefactors (Prof. Dr. Hasan Katipoğlu, Mürsel Şahinbaş, Mahir Özceylan) have donated to our library, which houses an archive of approximately 25,000 volumes of books and journals in the fields of religious studies and social sciences, available to you through an open-shelf system. Moreover, thanks to a special programme provided by ISAM, you can instantly access the bibliographic information of 882,000 volumes from a total of 102 libraries, including the Süleymaniye Library.

·      Student Clubs: You can organise or join student clubs based on your own interests and arrange a wide variety of academic and cultural events throughout the year. Events such as the "Religion and Geography Symposium," organised with the participation of our students and academics, are among the lively activities on our campus.

·      Scientific Publishing: Our peer-reviewed scientific journal, published twice a year by our faculty since 2002 (Hittite Theology Journal) is a pioneering journal in the field of social sciences.
