Academic Turkish Language Course

Purpose of the Course

The Academic Turkish Course is designed for students who will use Turkish at an academic level in graduate programs and aims to help them develop the knowledge and skills required in their respective fields.

This course is intended for C1-level students who need to develop the Academic Turkish language skills required in higher education. Its primary objective is to improve students’ four fundamental language skills—speaking, listening, reading, and writing—at an academic level within their respective fields.

The course also aims to help students conduct scientific research and produce academic texts in Turkish, understand the phonological, morphological, syntactic, and semantic features of the Turkish language from a pragmatic and textual perspective, and use terminology specific to their fields accurately and effectively in their academic work.

Course and Student Enrollment Requirements

• -To participate in the Academic Turkish Course, students must have a C1 Turkish certificate and/or a document demonstrating that they are currently receiving Turkish language education at the C1 level.
• -Academic Turkish courses may be offered on weekdays and weekends, with morning, afternoon, and evening groups, provided that there are at least 8 students.
• -No traditional examination is administered at the end of the Academic Turkish Course. Process-based and performance-based assessment and evaluation methods are used.
• -Students who meet the attendance requirements receive a Certificate of Participation.
• -Students who successfully complete the assessment administered at the end of the course receive an Academic Turkish Certificate.
• -Students are required to attend at least 80% of the classes.
• -Course content includes preparing assignments, preparing presentations, analyzing academic texts in the fields of Social Sciences, Natural Sciences, Health Sciences, and Theology, and producing texts using all four fundamental language skills.

Course Hours and Tuition Fees

• -The course is planned to last 6 weeks, with a total of 144 lesson hours.
• -Classes are held 4 days a week, 6 lessons per day.
• -One lesson hour is 40 minutes.
